Meeting Death

by Ashley Mullinax   Oct 16, 2005

Could you face Death,
if he passed by?
And hold his gaze,
if he caught your eyes?

Would it be fear or courage,
that you would lack?
If he smiled at you,
could you smile back?

Or would you scowl in return,
if his lips caught a grin?
What if he frowned back,
could you hold steady then?

His plague-filled touch,
could it turn you to ice?
One shiver from you,
would be enough to suffice.

Death would chuckle,
give an all-knowing grin.
He knows you're afraid,
you know it's the end.
