Absent Mourn

by Mae   Oct 16, 2005

He came home with a smile
and went in his room
I ran to him when he yelled
he held the letter as he swoomed
he threw down the paper and left with a slam
the next day he left her
and he joined them for the last round
he shaved his head
he polished the gun
he stared at the ceiling
and imagined what if's could become
she waited and mourned
as his absense did resent
and six months later
the letter was sent
she found the letter
among the other ones with bills
The one she slowly opened
she opened it with chills
she sobbed as she scanned it
as I broke down all alone
her poor loving soldier
would never come home.
