Grass is always greener on the other side

by jaki   Oct 17, 2005

She\'s sitting all alone
In a class room full of people
Starring out the window
Thinking of the life she left behind

There are a million thoughts
Racing through her head
None of them quite right
To match the feelings she keeps inside

She tries to write her pain
But all her tries seem empty
She finally gives up
And takes it in her stride

Her head hangs low
As she walks the empty corridors
Remembering the abuse
That gets shouted to her daily

They are always telling her to end her life
And telling her she\'s not worth it
She tries her hardest not to listen
Just watches the birds flying by

She wonders to herself
Why she doesnt grant her pupils wish
To just lie down on the grass
And let darkness take her life

Walking through the corridors once more
She holds her head high with pride
Knowing for the first time in her life
She\'ll be doing something right

Half way through first period
She walks aimlessly out of class
Leaving all her books behind
Carrying nothing but a torn up bit of paper

Outside she lies down
Feeling the grass prickle at her back
Thinking to herself
Of how the grass really is greener on the other side

Picking up her knife
She slices slowly down her wrist
Breathing a sigh of relief
Muttering her final goodbye

A couple of hours later
Her fellow pupils find her
Never would they have guessed
Of the pain that they had caused

Looking at her body
They see her tiny smile
And in her hold she hands
A simple blood covered letter

A small boy picks it up
And recites the words aloud
His voice shaking slightly
As he voices her final words

\"For many days
I have tried
To think of other ways
But I have lied
To all of you
In telling you Im fine
But now you know its true
This blade of mine
Has made its score
You\'re all eyewitnesses here
No more am I a wh-re
So go and drink your beer
You\'ll all be happier now
Knowing you have got your wish
I just wanted to tell you how
Oh how happy I finally am
Knowing that I will rest in peace\"

Although no more words were spoken
The silence said it all
Each student regretting
What they had done to this girl

Her funeral was held in silence
Not even the priest knowing what to say
But one brave kid stood up
The same one that had recited her final words

And once more he spoke her words
Bowing his head with guilt
And through the silence his voice rang out
Whilst others slowly bowed their respect
To the girl who had once walked their corridors
