The Five

by don mohr   Oct 17, 2005

We rested a short while, and looked
for a beddown-we scurried like
hungry rodents in a dark kitchen,
except this dark was formidable
and procurring-no less, permanent
and blinding;
My sense of judgement layed
strewn out like tattered blanket
that held some child for comfort,
ceasing to leave it anywhere that
might become forgotten-this
place had become just that, and
then to add to sensless worrying,
there were four others, feeling
similar, if not worse-we haven\'t
spoken civilized for almost three
days-its always the same words
that get used over and over-
Names, places and our historys
are all but vanquished-we tried
nicknames, but that lessened
our survival party from 9, to 5;
Fights broke out early-gaining for
position, and leadership-then
after a terrible \"cat and mouse\"
ordeal, the remaining five
had decided to continue on, and
find some relevant peace from
within-the future makers have all
disapeared-the political turmoil
that drove governments into
seclusion left security groups to
occupy the freedoms that we once
exercised as an independant
country of states-now that the
Union has succeeded from the
World Peace Organization, all
fifty states ratified the seperatist
treaty and allied with subservant
groups that controlled small
resevoirs of natural resources and
food-I was surprised to see and
experience the end this way, after
all, it was the People that were
suppsed to be the unwilling
partners in a cntrolled and slave
market-got to give these people
credit-they were in power the
whole time;
The others knew that I was a cell
agent for the US Treasury Agency
-The department disbanded into
urban satellite offices, and labeled
themselves "private practice" or
self-emplyed themselves to
blend in-but once activated, it was
difficult to keep frm letting out
the truth-the truth unveiled itself
in the end of days, and that
weapn f mass destruction that
somehow eluded our security
agencies was the very reason why
we had security to begin with-
We were the weapons of mass
destruction, the cells-Europe fell
quickly to poverty and hunger-
Famine and disease wiped out
the Asian continent-glbal warming
had altered the earths gravity,
and undercurrents and thermal
drafts created massive typhoons
and killed mst mammals in the
ocean-Sulphuric Dioxine and
Naptha Octerine spread respiratory
ailments worldwide-I was working
on a cure for cancer, a cure for
a bent corner on a cardboard box
"so to speak"-The world was still
up t the same old shit-second
guessing the government-then
they had the power, right?
The day was still and a bit nippy-
I remember that feeling-then
the sounds of planes and
sound breaking barriers that
seemed to loosen the clouds
from the sky-The eery feeling
of a threatening silence-like a
night, filled with doubts, and
you pay for the light, then the
Light pays you back--
