Oak

by ScarletHaze   Oct 17, 2005

Looking out at the growth of man
many sheltering here
i have seen you come and go
mankind living and dying

ive seen the joy of some
as well as the sorrow of others
i have been there to comfort
and there where i merely cause more grief by showing many a mere token of immortality.

but this oak that has stood so long
initials carved into my bark
meaning so much to many
now means so little to men and there machines.
