What's a Dad

by John (Mr. Whuppy)   Oct 18, 2005

What's a Dad

I wish my kids would understand
I'm not a God I'm just a man
I haven't got a pocket deep
full of cash for them to reap

I just sit here don't make fuss
I just write songs and poems of lust
But when it's time to go to school
Dad's the taxi as a rule

And when they want new clothes and things
It's me that makes the till bell ring
When they get married as they will
Who do you think will foot the bill

But when you come to weigh it all
It's worth it cause you know
It's Dad who helped them to grow up
And to the world they'll show

That you did a pretty good job with them
They make you proud to be
The dad who tried to give his all
HEY they grew up just like me

This is a very touching poem.
I think that dad's are great even
though I don't know where mine is
right now,, but I know that the times
I spent with him were great. I love
him a lot. Your wonderful John. 5/5

Great poem! it's true with how much dad's do for kids, or just parents in general. it just matters what kind of parent you have or had which efects how you do things with your own kid. i wrote a paper about this once in english last year. i discussed this topic for a long time. well done! great to see you active in the club!
