If I Had It to Do Over

by Larry   Oct 19, 2005

If I could travel back in time,
I would make my numerous wrongs right;
I would no longer live in darkness,
I would explore my future while walking in light.

I would remain in the presence of your beauty,
I would gaze into your sapphire eyes;
If I attempted to move on without you,
My will to live would surely die.

I hurt you in many ways,
My ignorance was a characteristic of my youth;
But when I say I love you,
I hope you know that I speak the truth.

I will love you beyond death,
I will cherish the love you gave;
I will long for the touch of your lips,
Even when I am bound in my grave.

    This is a great piece.The rhyme scheme blends in so subtley with the emotion of what you are saying.I can also relate to this poem for personal reasons.I know we all have things we wish we could do over.My feeling on that is this:
    Save your regrets not for the things you did, but for those you didn't.And if you live your life following your heart, in the end perhaps there will be no regrets at all.Anyway, great piece, technicaly, emotionally, and intellectually.
