Beautiful Little Girl (song)

by Lauren   Oct 19, 2005

(Whisper/soft singing)

I sit and look into the eyes of a little girl,
And suddenly I'm all caught up in another world,
Of a time when people said it's OK,
To destroy a little girls life and just walk away.

(Music starts)

Suddenly I'm flooded with thoughts of pain,
Where tears are falling like daggers of rain,
Because as she lay broken in the middle of the fight,
There was no-one to stop all the self-conscious strife,

Suddenly I'm crowded with thoughts eating at my soul,
Where once there was beauty now nothing seems whole,
Because the freedom of youth has slowly flown away,
And left you behind in the darkest of days,

(Chorus)
Beautiful little girl, I watch as you fall,
Beautiful little girl, why didn't you just call,
Beautiful little girl, your smile starts to fade,
Beautiful little girl, your innocence is stained,
Beautiful little girl, it's sad to think you've been lonely every night,
Beautiful little girl, it's sad to think no-one's there to tell it's all right,

Suddenly I'm sprawled across the dirty haunted floor,
Where you lay every time whispering no more,
Because he said you asked him, he said he wanted to,
There was no reason to say no, except for hurting you,

Suddenly I'm running, I'm crying out aloud,
Where am I running to, is somewhere out,
Because he didn't love you, because he didn't care,
He slowly tore you bit by bit and left you bleeding there.

(Music slows/quietens)

I sit and look into the eyes of a little girl,
And suddenly I'm caught up in the real world,
Here, in this moment when people say it's OK,
For a man to destroy a little girl and just walk away.

Very moving and sad poem Lauren. I'm guessing you could or have put this to music which would make a very moving song as well. Thanks for reading my poem about my dogs. They are our babies really. One is lieing at my feet right now. Keep up the good work!
