Safe and Secure

So many years I wasted,
All my time of youth,
Hiding from reality,
Hiding from the truth.
How many people just like me,
Empty, yearning ones,
Passing their philosophy
To daughters and to sons.

A fight twixt good and evil
Was going on inside,
My mind was troubled deeply
I longed to run and hide.
But then I found I had to face
This truth of peace and light.
Though it were both hard and long
His way gives me true sight.

Now He has a hold on me
Security I've found.
No more I go through every day
My eyes fixed on the ground.
For I can face the truth and follow
God's own shining light,
And all the world's false brightness
Seems just like darkest night.

There is no answer but the truth,
For anyone who needs
To rid the garden of their life
From tangles, thorns and weeds.
For anyone, however weak,
Who's sickened by their sin.
Will find one day,
They've seen the light
God's spirit lives within.
