The breakdown

by Se Lest   Oct 22, 2005

He’s got a syringe in his backpack pocket
A picture of his mom in a keep safe locket
Being kept so close to his heart

And throughout all he’s been through
Baring the harm in his life
There’s no such thing as a final warning
Because the final warning comes with a test

It’s not long till there’s nothing left
Two shots and 3 lines short of a lost bet
Sleeping by the cold gutter
Worn out shoes on his feet
The raping eyes in the back ally’s
The rock slinging in the streets
He whispers

I can’t live this way anymore
There’s got to be more in store for me
While living in this life
I’ve got to get through this
Breakdown

How do you make a commitment?
When you’re facing towards the silence
And your eyes sealed shut
From the dirt that creeps inside
Your gentle sarcasm is unnoticed
because he’s slipping away
with this bottle in a brown bag

Only taking baby steps
Bad habits resist from being cared for
It’s a rarity for success
But taking a chance is worth it all
He screams inside

I can’t live this way anymore
There’s got to be more in store for me
While living in this life
I’ve got to get through this
Breakdown

I don’t know what happens
From here on and after
But sometimes
When you make a commitment
It can all be lost
