My Cellphone.

by david kessel   Dec 7, 2003

My darling phone!
My jewel of communication!
A tiny sets of circuits in ovation.

A mighty link to people all around.
I like your rhythmic blink
And crisp, refreshing sound!

You 've made it so much easier
To stay in touch;
To me, a busy one
It means so much.

My friends and lovers
And associates and all
Can flip their own cellphone's covers
And just call...

Unless the batteries
Run somewhat low,
The endless chattering will always go...

On, and then forever, I 'm in touch
With all the world
And comradeship at large.

One thing I miss, though,
And that's my privacy-
No longer it can claim
It's primacy

And keep me separate
From all these people-
Prank callers and their brothers' keepers,

And girlfriends, parents who at any time
Can make my phone ring its chime,
And bother me when I am all alone.
Oh, well, that's why I've bought the phone

To start with so, I guess, I can't complain.
So, "on" my cellphone will remain.
I guess, I'd rather be within their reach
And let my privacy take on a breach

Than be what I once was without that widget-
A lonely, God-forsaken, social midget.
