Nightmares of Suburbia

by disorientated   Oct 23, 2005

Under the flickering streetlight
the scene of a fight, a guy's stag night
all passes by my side
in the nightmare of suburbia

Noise pollution fills the spaces in my empty head
a rat's dead, the couple in bed
the partners fighting, the tramp moonlighting
in the cover of suburbia

Soft rain falls on the tree leaves
The dudes dealing weed, the tarmac beneath my feet
keeps going, the cars buzz in and out of my ears
around and around and again
in the nightmare that is suburbia

Rudeboys tagging, alcohol in hand, they can't understand
the litter they make, the laws they break, the risks they take
go unnoticed in suburbia

On the corner of the street
Ghetto blaster breaking the beat, homies felling the heat
Are in charge, one foot out of line and it's punch time
from the kings of the suburbia

I keep walking, a girl's rape, the bum in his box feels hate for the cold wind,
the wet leaves, as suburbia breathes it lights up the sky, blocks the stars of night, the street light still burns bright by my side
in the nightmare.
that is.
suburbia.
