Night Terrors

by cowgirlstar26   Oct 23, 2005

I wake to find myself cold and afraid
I'm covered in sweat and my hands begin to shake

a rapid fear moves through my soul
why won't this stop, these terrors I loathe

night terrors that steal away my sleep
I awake in horror as I have a traumatic dream

my breathing labors, I clench my fist
I see the blood running down my uncles wrist

I dream about the demons that haunted him that night
and I awake only to realize that long ago he lost that fight

in fear of sleeping I try to stay awake
then soon my eyes shut and I end up in some distant place

then cold clammy hands touch my face
I can hear something or someone calling my name

I wake to see a dark room
but, it's not my own
I'm suddenly walking and stumble upon my uncles grave stone

now I awake to my bed above me
I lay upon my soft carpet
by morning this dream I'll forget....

It was pretty good, but at the end it seemed to be like a then, and then, and after that then. Try not to allow this to happen in your poetry.
