Great Love?

I think this could be
the beginning
of a great love

but do i want this flower to bloom
shall i water it dubiously
put it in the sun
where it thrives the most

if i do let it grow
will it be a red rose
black
white
yellow
or pink

or shall i let it wilt
before it even blossoms

what if it has thorns
too many to handle

what if i brave the thorns
all the cuts and scrapes
just to get to the flower

and what if when i get there
it isn't worth it
not in the end?
