Mercy Fails

by Matt   Oct 23, 2005

Oh mercy fails, just one to deceive
Igniting the embers under our feet
We burn and are tormented this life
But rise from the ashes, like Phoenix
Our pain is temporary, though feels forever
The fire in my eyes never dies
And the stars in yours never burn out
We could stand on the beaches of time
Feel the cool water wash over our toes
Hold each other under the harvest moon
Believe as you must, but stay with me
Don't let me loosen my hands from you
You're fading darling, can see through
Like holding a ghost in my arms now
There's nothing left to support me
Falling face first into the sands
What will this fix?
I can't sleep through this one
Not with the sword of the angels in my back
But you can't tear it out, not without pain
So leave me here, like everyone else
I'll make it through, to some end
And some glorious finale for myself
I just wanted to know who I am.
