The Rose

by **Just Her**   Oct 24, 2005

I lay this rose
For your eyes to see
Into your soft hand
For it to lay for eternity

I want the smell to linger
For all those unfaithful days
So when your scared
You'll remember me always

I want the pedals to fall slowly
And for them to remind you
Of every moment we shared
And everything we've been through

I want the colors to be engraved
In your mind until the end
So you don't paint life in black and white
And you'll remember you always have a friend

And once this rose wilts to nothing
Think of that spirit in the sky
We all must go at one time or another
So we have to accept it, and learn to die

It was good but I don't really understand how death fit into a friendship poem...maybe I'm just slow, lol, but I did like it other than that. Keep on writing!

Chillingly good, heartwrenching, touching, and a triumph.
