The Couple

by A Former Outcast   Oct 24, 2005

As the couple gazed into each other's eyes
While the light shined down from the skies,
The birds were singing everywhere
As peace prevailed for all to share.

As the clouds parted and the heavens shined in
The land was then purged entirely of sin.
The happiness the couple shared had no match,
And their love was large enough to have no catch.

As they stood the wind blew lightly,
The grasses bending ever so slightly.
They smiled as they gazed at each other's faces,
Their minds taking them to much better places.

As the wind blew, they both grew old,
And their hands became very cold.
Their skin wrinkled, their hair grew white,
But it did not hide their young eyes from sight.

Eventually this wonderful couple dies,
Leaving to go to another paradise.
And, dear beloved, I hope you can see,
This will be the story of you and me.
