Mummy & Daddy

Why does my mummy make daddy so mad,
What is it that she says to him?
He yells at her crazy, she screams at him back,
My young fragile ears start to sting.

He stumbles past as I move away quick,
Like last night and the night before that.
My mummy walks back wards, hits the wall with a THUD!
As my daddy's hand is around mummy's throat.

She screams at him PLEASE, I haven't yet healed
From the beating you gave me before.
I know what's to come as the day turns to night
And my daddy comes in through the door.

My mummy is crying as daddy says things,
He yells things that I don't understand.
Then I look away cos i never can watch
As my mummy's face feels daddy's hand.

Mummy slides down the wall as my daddy turns around,
He walks past me without even a glance.
I freeze, I won't move in case daddy sees me
And strikes out at my face with his hand.

I run to my mummy once daddy has gone,
I try to hold her but mummy's to sore.
So I bring her a towel with the peas wrapped inside
As my mummy lays weak on the floor.

She says to me baby, with blood in her breath,
it's alright son but please understand.
Your daddy's just angry, he doesn't mean what he does,
Now go to bed son, sweet dreams little man.
