I dreamt'
you came running back insides
and said you'd made a mistake
said that you were sorry
and you never meant to break
your heart is all that i want
and i swear that i can change
looked at me with truth
but your not the one to blame
i said i couldn't handle
knowing you weren't mine
walking down the hall
pretending i was fine
going to bed every night
without an "i love you"
not getting a call on Friday
to hear "what should we do?"
you said i didn't have to
and we could be together
you gently took my hand
and i said i promise you. forever
i said don't say forever,
forever never last
you leaned in close to kiss me
my heart began beating fast
i felt your lips on mine
your hands ran through my hair
but as i threw my arms around you
i realized you weren't there
reality slapped me in the face
i heard the cold shut of the door
i felt a chill run down my spine
i wanted you even more
i watched you walk off the steps
and heard you pull away
i felt my heart explode
with a thousand words of nothing to say
now my heart is broken
tears are all that show
my heart will soon be mended
and you will never know
what you gave away
can never be returned
because the heart that i once gave you
will never again be yours.
