Staring at this Ring

by LadyPearl   Oct 26, 2005

Your soft sapphire eyes
enchant me sweet lullaby
You've hushed all my cries
And wiped my cheeks dry
You should have been that one
to present me with that ring
but what's been done is done
for now you only bring
me the memories
of us upon the beach
under the angel's wing
until sadness strikes us each

You went one way
and I also went another
We left without a single say
without thinking of each other
Many years have passed
Now I think of you
to you I still address
that my first love was true
Now as I look upon this ring
and stare upon the bells
I see your face staring
saddened eyes all pale

Tears come to my eyes
For you I still yearn
My future now lies
on an everlasting burn
Forever dreaming of this man
while with someone new
I have been banned
to a love that is true
