Somebody\'s Smile

by k i k i   Oct 26, 2005

Signs of destruction and hurt,
Re-write this life, taunts and hate.
Laughing behind her back,
She doesn't cry.
She fakes a smile,
Hoping the mirror will break.

What would they do walking in her shoes?
Would they be able to laugh?
Tumble or crawl to the top of the ladder,
Trying to reach the height of a new opportunity.
Leading a bunch of stereotypes,
Make-up and hair being a hit.

Waking up within a dream,
Stuck in a rut alone.
Fear dries inside her heart,
Feelings she doesn't want to feel.
Tension going overdrive,
She can't steer straight.

Covering the skin that she hates,
Struts the catwalk, down the corridor.
Reality has arisen; she can't turn back,
She has to face the fear of them.
No different to her, same smile,
Just a different outlook on life.

Taken one look at,
She hides the devastation with a frown.
Rushing emotions, ready to roll,
She wants something new.
All she wants is a chance,
A chance to share a real smile.

There's no difference between them,
Just an opinion. Stereotyped dictionary.
It's someone's smile,
Hidden and altered, it's not real.
Believe it or not,
It's the same for them too.

Everyone needs to smile.
