Mom

by Amber Collins   Oct 26, 2005

What once was
but can never be
causes me such misery
distorted lies
you spin you fate
so much sorrow
caused by hate
your desperate words
and hurting heart
are all about
to fall apart
why did you quit
when you knew you'd start
I just want to know why
why you had to lie
we tried to help you
stay away
from all the things
that made you fade away
the promises you made
but never kept
are all of the things
my heart has wept
I can't help you
when you push me away
just take my hand
and you'll be okay
I need you back
to play the part
the part you played
from the start
just listen to me
and follow your heart
cause what you do now
could be the beginning
of a new start.

(This was written in hope that my mother wouldn't drink again, so that we wouldn't have to go back to the life that tore us all apart!)
