Much Ado About Nothing

by Daniel J   Oct 27, 2005

The thrill!
The rush!
The horror and the dread!
And even more spectacular,
Is the fear it spreads!

Now there they go,
They're walking near,
And all you feel is fear!
Quick, turn your face,
Before you look too out of place!

But here it is again,
An opportunity to say,
What's eating you alive,
There's no time to sit and pray,
Though for help you'd gladly pay!

It lasts about a second,
This opportunity,
And if you do not take it now,
Pretty soon you'd wish you had,
For who knows when it'll come again?

Too late!
They went!
And now they're gone from you!
What a silly fool you are,
It only takes some courage!

And now perhaps there's someone else,
Who would take them for themselves,
When it could be you alone...
Regret. Remorse...
And a little more of dread.

There they are!
They're drawing near!
the opportunity is clear,
And it fills you up again,
With a mighty fear!

Take it now,
Don't let it slip,
Forget about fear's steely grip,
Take the plunge,
Just do it now!

Panic!
Urgency!
Don't swallow words,
Speak up clear,
Tell them so that they can hear!

And yet again they go from you!
If only you had David's courage,
And from Samson a bit of strength,
And Saul could give your height some length...
Then you'd manage fine.

Regret sets in yet again,
Remorse you feel quite plain,
Next time won't be the same,
You promise to yourself,
You promise to do it right.

But what if there's no other time?
But what if they say no?
But what if,
What if,
If...

And in this manner,
You die a thousand deaths,
Before you bring yourself to say,
Three little words,
such small words.

But what if they say "yes?"
Bliss and happiness,
And lovely thoughts forevermore,
A person who you can adore,
And who adores you even more.

Worry not.
It'll be ok.
Pluck your courage from between your feet,
And your beloved's gaze you'll meet...
And everything will be fine.
