Fate's Calling

Darkness surrounds me, though it's bright as day
I remember each moment as you walked away
My heart was racing, no longer did it beat
From that moment on, my world fell incomplete

The crystallized memories fall down in streams
You are the haunting in each of my dreams
The broken promises and secrets that bled
Are why I believe they're better left unsaid

I see you there, yet my fears persist
You're my whole world, but I don't exist
Your eyes glare cold, a vacant stare
Where's the love that was once there?

I sit staring blankly, not knowing what went wrong
I lose all my strength each time I hear our song
Is it just my mind, or are you really there?
Should I question reality, should I even dare?

Have I gone insane from such constrain?
Your picture won't speak, it stares oblique
I'll never accept that you walked away
If only you hadn't...you'd be here today

As you turned around, nothing felt right
I still let you leave without any fight
The phone rang, I was gone before goodbye
The overwhelming fear silenced my cry

I arrived at the hospital, my spirits then sunk
The guy that had hit you was so very drunk
I went into your room, quietly I spoke,
"I love so much, you promised me", I choked

"This promise is something you vowed to keep..."
Soon after speaking I heard the dreaded beep
How could this be, a life so far from done
Ruined in instant, ruined for some fun

This world gives too little and takes all you need
It leaves you wounded and left to bleed
Depleted I will linger, until I see you staring back
Until then you are the piece my heart will always lack

I hope that you're happy, and still by my side
If I close my eyes tightly, I can find you inside
