The friendship that was

Our friendship was greater
Then anything that exists
But now all that is left of it
Is anything but bliss

We would talk till late at night
And now we don't even speak at all
You were my best friend
But now you're just a stranger in the hall

Why did you say we were never friends
Even if you didn't mean it
Now my heart is broken
And only you can mend it

You were the one to comfort me
When I was sad
The one to stand by me
When everything was bad

Now you're the one hurting me
And there is no one to care
All I want is your friendship
And for you to be there

I guess we just let it fall apart
I knew it from the start
That one day our friendship
Would inferior with what we had in our hearts

Now I sit here once again
Reading a letter that you sent
Saying you love me
And well forever be friends

I guess forever isn't a long time
Because I'm here alone
With just a broken heart
And no friend, to keep me whole
