Now they lay her down to sleep

Gathered in this church tonight no one makes a sound
Dressed in black, their heads held low, everyone gathers around

To this broken hearted little girl, the angel they left behind
Her favorite teddy bear lay at her feet

The thread ripped off, the feathers came undone

Now distant as a memory, pale as a dying dove
As she lay there in her white satin bed
Rose petals fall on her sweet little head
Now they lay her down to sleep
They pray the lord her soul to keep
For they didn't see what was in front
of their eyes

In heaven she'll laugh, she'll smile again
Happy forever, playing again
As the Church remains silent, the last prayer is said
As the last petal falls, the last tear is shed...
