How can I feel so alone
In the center of a crowded room
Where everyone seems happy
But all I feel is gloom

Has anyone looked around to see
Over here, look at me
A lonely soul hidden in plain sight
Or am I just a shadow in the night

Is there no caring left in humanity
Or are they only concerned with their own insanity
Ensure you do not draw the attention at a distance
From there pathetic little existence

A simple exchange of pleasantry
How can we not be deluded by the sycophantry
How are you? I'm fine, nice to see you
An everyday response but still untrue

You have not heard a word I have spoken
You slept through every word and only awoken
To grasp on to morsels and fragments
To belittle me for your divertissement

Is it so hard to understand
That if you cannot hold my hand
Whenever my heart would necessitate
Then your presence I would not tolerate
