Exorcism

by libby   Oct 29, 2005

I awoke, and began to
scratch
the dreams from my eyes.
As my hand made contact
with my cheek
I noticed it was smooth and
cold, so cold, my arctic white skin
was so very cold, but
why?
Was I not next to you all night,
being warmed by you?
Was it not your cheek pressed
up against mine?
I slept upon the pillows of your lips,
and your whole body
blanketed me,
and the plan was to
stay forever.
Why did you leave?
No.
That was the dream.
The dream, the dream that I was trying to
scrape away.
Once more I claw and I claw and I claw
and I claw
but you do not fade.
If anything
you grow more clearly defined.
I cry, maybe the
tears
will wash you downstream,
but you tread water.
Things would be so much
easier
if you could just disappear,
but heating costs are up this year
and I don't have that kind of money.

Hehehe, I liked the ending, that was funny :P.
This is really good, nice choice of words, I liked the lines 'I awoke, and began to
    scratch
the dreams from my eyes,' I think it's almost as if the dream was a nightmare and you are trying hard to get rid of it. Nice write
