Broken Heart Repair

by Peter Williams   Oct 29, 2005

She broke my heart,
Then broke my spirit.
I couldn't believe it when we first shook,
It was like something that I've read in a book.
I woke up in the middle night,
With tears in my eyes.
Why can't I make sense of this?
Was there something that I might've missed?
Crying through the pain,
And the lost memories.
Oh for Pete's sake!
There's just so much I can take.
I dragged a comb across my head,
And then one across my teeth.
Staring into my mirror,
As the shadows drew me nearer.
So I picked up the phone,
And made a confession.
Repair my broken heart,
Before my world falls apart.
"1-800-Repair me?"
"Yes, It's me again."
"No, It can't be true"
"I swear I didn't have a clue."
"MmmHmm..."
"Uh-Huh..."
"That's what I told her."
"But the rest is all a blur."
"Please, please..."
"Oh, Broken Heart Repair..."
"Tell me what to do."
"Fix my heart and make it as good as new."
"Hello?"
Why can't I move on?
Oh for Pete's sake!
There's just so much I can take.
This is all I need,
Just a dial tone,
With no goodbye,
And no reply.
I got in my car and speed away,
The music was screaming in my ears,
Take me away from all of this,
Let's pretend she didn't exist.
Ring, ring...
"Hello?"
"What must I do?"
"How can I ever repay you?"
"Alright, goodbye."
One last chance to make things right,
One last chance to hold her in my arms again,
Please and thank you dear Cupid for bringing me this pain.
I took her by the hand,
I told her I loved her,
She told me she loved another,
Oh for Pete's sake!
There's just so much I can take.
"Broken Heart Repair?"
"Yes, It's me again."
"There's something you must know..."
"I got upstage by some average Joe."
"MmmHmm..."
"Uh-Huh..."
"Is that your expert opinion?"
"She acts like she's some dictator to some dominion."
"She costs me so much pain."
"Should I move on?"
"And give up the good fight."
"Giving up... Are you sure that's right?"
"Hello?"
Dial tone,
Just as I thought,
A fight that's worth fought.
Winners never quit,
It's a pity...
That I didn't learn this sooner,
So I grabbed my guitar and my tuner.
Meet me on the balcony,
I need to tell you something,
This song is for you,
And all that you do.
Singing a sad song,
Of headaches and heartbreaks.
This is my last chance,
I should've asked her to dance.
I was crying while I played my guitar,
Tears landing on the strings;
Please listen to my song,
Before I drown on for far too long.
She opened her window,
And then closed it again.
Oh for Pete's sake!
There's just so much I can take.
After all I've gone through,
After all I've done,
Oh, Broken Heart Repair...
You're the only one who truly
cares.
