Poker Night

by Jamie   Oct 30, 2005

The room is drowned in smoke
We ante in our feelings
In this game we've gone all in
I'm wasted and you're dealing

I'm not afraid of loosing
So I'll raise your bet
You're nervous I can tell
Your love is drenched in sweat

As we burn through the cards
The fights and feelings grow
I think I'll check on this one
Your bluffing starts to show

Hit me babe, I can't fold now
Anger maintains my poker face
In this game there are no limits
And mistakes you can't erase

You hold all the wild cards
But I keep my royal flush
The jack pots quickly rising
As your betting becomes plush

It's drawing to an end
You're getting close to call
As we play it out heads up
I can see you're scared to fall

When the heat is up there
Both of us beat out the flames
The faking and the bluffing
Has made us tired of these games

And I can see straight through
The cards that you now hold
You're true and this will last
Neither of us will ever fold

**this is dumb, i wasn't even writing about something real when i wrote this i was just like thinking what if and i was obsessing over having a theme in every poem and i thought it was cool then but not so much anymore..

Whoa! Excellent write! Alot of people have been writing like this lately...comparing objects and games to love. I think this is the best I've read yet. I love how it's a bit nerve racking until the end...where you end so sweet.
