Dreams

This is definitely not my best... but I felt this was a story that needed to be told . . .
-----------------------------------

See feel out of her chair,
A shrieked out in fright;
Her friends all laughed,
And then tried to help her,
But they could see,
The tears in her eyes..
She was crying,
From the way they laughed at her,
So she picked up her books,
And sat somewhere else.
They shook their heads,
And resumed eating,
Something had been bothering her,
For sometime now,
But they didn't bother to try,
To save her this one last time.
While she cried to herself,
All alone at the table,
They talked amoungst themselves,
About how much she had changed.
They shot fevered glances over at her,
And she peered at them behind a broken smile.
They all just shook their head,
And ignored her;
If she was going to be like this again,
They would let her be the way she wanted.
That day she went home,
And drank herself to sleep;
She let it all go,
And fell to the bed,
In her own world of dreams.
She watched through glazed over eyes,
As the paramedics came,
She laughed inside herself,
As they tried to save her.
But she fought with them,
Not by body but by mind.
She saw her friends all there,
Clustered around the bed crying,
And she thought 'They deserved this;
They did this to me',
And she let go of her final beating heart,
And drifted off,
Into a dream she'll forever keep.
