Falling

by Truest Lies   Oct 31, 2005

Anyone care to join me,
In the deep dark hole of despair?
Help me lash at the demons,
And this heavy burden of mine bear.
Anyone care to jump,
So I might not have to be so alone.

Most people think its my fault,
And prefer to stay up there,
Were warm sunshine eases their pain,
And their train of thought
Is consumed by sunny memories,
And not despair.

Anyone dare to fall?
Its such a long drop,
And once you leap, theres no going back
To the light that you took for granted.
This is the plight of fear,
And do you care to join me,
All you have to do is jump,
From the height youre standing on.

Running on the beach,
You wont get far,
Sand trips you up,
Sticking to your feet like tar.

Waves crash outside,
Outside of the wall youve built around your head,
Around your heart.

Strip off and swim in the ocean,
If thats what you really like,
Catch a cold, miss school,
Mom screams at you "you look a sight!"
Seaweed clinging to your hair,
A shark tore at your clothes,
Lost your shoes in the waves,
Jelly-fish poisoned you and your cheeks puffed up,
Nobody cares, and the rest of that self-pitying stuff.

Better keep on running,
See how far you can get,
Before rocks trip you up,
You hit your head,
And forget.
