I Tried So Hard

I tried to lift the broken pieces
Of my dead heart on the floor
I tried to call and bring him back
But he just slammed the door

I tried to sit and talk it out
When he still brought me lies
I tried to make him understand
But he ignored my cries

I tried to make it all work out
And walk into his grace
But his answers were all known to me
A hard slap upon my face

I tried to run into his arms
But he pushed me away
I tried so hard to keep his heart
And yet he wouldn't stay

I guess this is my wake up call
On how he never did love me
And now I'm sorry that I tried so hard
Since it wasn't meant to be
