Heavy Heart

by Bill Turner   Nov 1, 2005

My heart is heavy today
Dragging me towards the abyss
It is so hard to explain
The feelings I have inside
This day I need you

I need your arms around me
I long to hear your words of love
Wrap me in the warmth of our dreams
Chase these demons from my head
Surround me with all that you are

In your heart I long to hide
Seeking shelter from the storm
Letting the winds and rain pass by
Tears may fall as I cling to you
I have carried them for so long

I fight them back so no one knows
I hide behind this wonderful facade
Only you know the real me
As I let you into my heart
One of the few things I have done right

I hate to ask for a thing
A sign of weakness from me
This is the hardest thing I have ever done
My human frailty exposed for you to see
I know you will not let me down

Best friend you are to me
I hate to ask this of you
My heart is heavier just writing these words
You always know just what to say
Your love healing my damaged soul

Gee Bill stop making me cry.. this is by far my favourite poem. It does not make you less of a man to reach out to the woman you love and need her. This poem is so beautiful. I so love it more than anything.
