Pool of Thought

by Jemma   Nov 1, 2005

Sleepy eyes, dreaming mind
Eyes stalking me from slumber
Pestering me out of peace
And into this world of labour

Lost in the tides and waves
Ebbing me in and drawing me out
A conscious battle
Weakening, body crumbles

Slips away once again
Where the trickle of water tickles your feet
And the rumbling rhythms
Of the roaring falls

Echoes in the back of your mind
Stones skimming the water
Leaving ripples behind them
But too large a rock is thrown
Plummets through the surface
The splash of liquid
Magnifies each scene

A trail of rainbow droplets
Your aching eyes snap open
Fingers pointing, a remote echo
Lingering well into your mind
Chalk dust and laughter
Slipping, always slipping into another pool of thought
