Behind the Smile

by LettersFromEnnis   Nov 2, 2005

Everyday people see me
And they think they know whats there
They think I have the perfect life
But theyre wrong
And despite all my laughter
And happy doings
There lies something dark
Something the naked eye could never see
Pain
Despair
Something not new to me
Everyone thinks Im just some person
With a million dollars in my pocket
And with a bag of happiness in my hand
And yet
I hold a knife in the other
Some people think Im carefree
With no worries on my mind
But its unbelievable what they dont know
But behind this smile
There is a story to tell
Its about my life
My hurtful life
Sometimes its amazing
How I feel my existence is worthless
Even though it is
Sometimes my pain rises too high
And I can not take it
To the point where I even hate myself
For existing
But even though I sometimes get tired
Ill just have to live with this
Everyday of my miserable life
And everyday
People will just keep seeing this
This something unreal
Which is me
But someday
I will stop living a true lie
And everyone is going to see the real me
And this veil will fly away into the distance
And disappear
And whats left behind
Is something true
And then everyone is going to see
Whats behind the smile
