Shadow of Existence

You see me standing out from the crowd,
Confident and Proud.
Jealousy swims through your veins,
As your attitude begins to change.
You are scared by this new feeling
A weakness that was being revealed
You hide it with the only thing you know
The one thing that makes you feel in control
You don’t care about the pain you’re causing others
Just your selfish insecurities waiting to be recovered
The words seem to just fall from your lips
Landing right in the middle of the hearts
Of those without any covers
Not realising the damage you have done
You smile to yourself, thinking that you have won.
As you walk away with the stolen confidence in your hand,
Thinking just how well things went to plan.
You leave behind a girl that is no longer the same,
Just a mere shadow is all that remains
Her existence has been destroyed, her life has been shattered
All because of those words you so selfishly uttered.
