Only Darkness

by President Dead   Nov 2, 2005

When one person stands alone,
It leaks into them,
As one person runs away,
It follows them,
When someone hides,
It finds them
When someone submits,
It takes them,
Over time,
The darkness branches,
Into every part of the soul,
Through life and death,
It lives on

For every shadow there must be a light,
No light,
No shadow,
Only darkness,
Only darkness to continue,
Only darkness to thrive,
To posses,
To take control
Until the return of the shadows

I liked the first stanza best, it seemed more insightful, whereas I found the second to be a little cliched. However I thought that the last line was a powerful end to a very deep poem. Excellent poem. Well done as always,
