Thanksgiving

by Bill Turner   Nov 2, 2005

I have spent fifteen years hating November
The weather is cold and gray
Each year I get to remember
The day my mom went away

Thanksgiving night we said goodbye
Knowing that by morning
She would die
Leaving us mourning

Life is different this year
It has been twelve months since you came into my life
I have something to celebrate this year
The first time I heard the loving voice of my future wife

Rather than a cold reminder of the past
This year it shall mark a step towards our life
A celebration of our love that will last
Another day closer to being husband and wife

It shall mark a day of what life will bring
I shall be able to give thanks for the life I am living
It will be a day my heart shall sing
With you in my life, it is truly a Thanksgiving
