A Count Ant

by Kevin   Nov 2, 2005

I pay prices constantly
not excluding dues to time
and acknowledgement in actions
of it
smaller things like moods I think
and even thoughts exacting cost
require weight of kind in payment
least deficit leave a toll of marking

Movements of emotions
a bit like running
or hospital waiting for birth or death
must surely require fuel of something
food perhaps or regular naps
depression levied by precious mirth
delight in trade with mournful friends
balance books of heart and mind
with credit spending and dividends

Love the word play of the title. I don't necessarily think it fits with the context but it did make me giggle. I do however love the unusual imagery and awesome metaphor. My favorite perhaps, "hospital waiting for birth or death"

I think I could really relate to this ,it seems like everything in life costs us something ,sometimes just in energy,it reminded me of how tired I get sometimes just trying to be there for people who depend on me.I liked this a lot Kevin.
