Searching

I lost it along the way
the peace inside my soul
that kept me warm on winter days
when the ice was all around me
i lost it along the way, but where?

I search through my memories,
i see her smiling face,
and hear her voice as she speaks to me,
and teaches me life's lessons,
she was my friend and mentor,
but she left,
leaving a trace of the life i used to love behind her,
is that were i lost it?
did she take it with her leaving me with nothing?

I see him in front of me,
i feel him touch me,
his love seeped through me touching my heart,
and even when we were through,
and both had someone new,
he was my best friend,
a shoulder to cry on,
the peace i long for now,
and he left me,
did he take it too?

The warmth of the sun has left me,
still standing in the same place,
people move on,
leaving me behind,
taking away my peace,
the feeling that calms me and eases my pain,
And i search for it,
running through an endless maze,
calling out my voice broken by tears,
my heart ripping apart as it tries to follow the paths of others,
only causing me more pain,
i am lost in the maze,
i doubt i will find my way,
i doubt i will find the peace,
i lost it along the way,
and i am doomed to be in this maze forever,
searching.
