And So It Went

by Deja Marie Meriwether   Nov 2, 2005

You try to play it cool,
You don't know what to say,
But the feelings that you're feeling,
Just won't go away.

Butterflies in your stomach,
A sparkle in your eye,
Simply seeing them,
Makes the day go by.

But you feel used,
Mistrusted and mistreated,
You give your heart away,
For it to be depleted.

Alone you're loved,
You're better than the sky,
But once among the public,
You're no more than a fading high.

The memories so full of vigor,
Your heart so full of care,
You try to pretend you don't notice,
Like you don't know what's there.

But deep inside your torn,
Like tumbleweed in the wind,
Your head hurts,
And your mind spins.

You think you're being used,
The public lack of displays self evident,
For the reasoning behind the truth,
Of what goes on in private.

But your heart won't let go,
Of what once used to be,
You try to push away,
You try to set it free.

But the facts are facts,
And the truth all lies,
In the end,
Almost all love dies.
