Story of Best Friends

by Deja Marie Meriwether   Nov 2, 2005

There once was a girl who couldn't be average. It was something she wasn't meant to do. From the shoes on her feet to the eyes in their sockets she wasn't like anyone you'd ever meet. "I shall not grow up!" she stated one day- realizing the idiosyncrasy of this statement. Yet, she got older day by day. At her graduation- she didn't go. It was something for people who had something to know.
The girl was gone, to where no one knew. All she left was a note to her best friend,
"I'm off to explore. The world is wide. I'm young, I've got to enjoy the ride. You are my friend. I love you- don't forget!" Years passed by and nothing from the girl was heard, yet her friend still had that note in a drawer.
The friend began singing- Oh what a show! She was amazing, a rock star, you know? She became famous, and went on a tour. At the end of a show, somewhere like Paris, her manager handed her a book by L. E. Lapis. She opened the book, and to her surprise was a dedication page- straight for her eyes.
It said, "To my friend who I'll never forget. The world was wide, the ride even better. You're a rock star now, and I'm doing more than writing just letters. A best friend I never forgot. Good luck and thanks, I loved the song."
Tears to her eyes, a smile on her face. Friends forever, through memories retraced.
