My First

by Kelly Katherine   Nov 3, 2005

I am not still in love with you.

How could I be? Years have passed and we've both grown up.

How could I miss kissing you? Our lips were young, our mouths inexperienced.

How could I miss being touched by you? Our hands were amateurs, our fingers unschooled.

How could I miss talking with you? Our words were often caught in our throats, thought but never spoken.

I am in love with the memory of you.

Yours was the first mouth I kissed.

Yours were the first hands that caressed me.

Yours were the first words of love that spoke to me.

I will never forget you. I will never forget the joy of sharing our innocence together, of experiencing our naivete together, of simply being with each other first, before anyone else.

This is so very touching-it reminds me of the first girl I truly loved 15 years ago.It is a bit bittersweet though as I found her again and again lost her.Sometimes it is hard to know if we love that person or just the memory.the emotion and honesty is great in this one. This piece says so much.
