Freedom Awaits Me

by HighPerfection   Nov 3, 2005

As I lay my head down for the last time
I let the blood run freely from my wrist
I begin to cry
I look back at the good memories
Dancing in the rain all alone in the dark
Parties were I was the star

I sit outside write my final poem
The wind was gusting
The pouring rain camouflaged my tears
Leafs gust up in my face then blow away as if I was nothing

The memories flood in faster
Are these my last moments
I see me as a child running through the fields of Montana
Its fall the wheat yellow with age sways in the wind
Purple mountains of the Rockies submerge the backdrop

Suddenly I begin to slow in the field to a purposeful walk
Like a bride going down the isle on her wedding day
Over the next ridge I see the gate
I descend into the ravine

I walk down a lane of my past and present friends
I see my best friend in the entire world Anna
She waves goodbye and yells love ya girl
Next walks up Colter
Wraps me in a bear hug says I'll love you forever
He kisses my lips softly and leads me on my way
Yet again his sapphire blue eyes pierce my heart
I glide down farther down the lane
My final group are shattered group
Stands here together strong once again all for me
They walk up to me give me hug and says goodbye

Finally I'm at the gate Amy walked me
I give her a hug
I'm at the gate
I spread my arms close my eyes
And begin to fall
I drift away with ease
And know I'm at heavens pearly gates
Only now I can die alone not afraid
And Free
