Existential Nihilism

by Daniel Alexander   Nov 4, 2005

Life, love, happiness
All worth nothing
We work and never reap
Lasting benefits in this world
The point of life is to die
And death forfeits life
So what you do in between
Never really matters
It's tragic and it's true
That worth has no meaning
To the person who understands
Life can't move us anywhere
Nothing from nothing's still nothing
And I feel it in my bones
That will be nothing, but dust
Soon after I leave this world
The frivolity of existence
Is so much so
That it bears down on you
Like a crushing avalanche
Memory can't even serve for retention
Since it all fades away
So why not live alone?
Why not forfeit life?
Why aren't the Nihilists right?
Because, when you truly understand
Thirty-five seconds can be an eternity
Perception is beauty
And the beauty perceived
Could outwit a million and one
Existential Nihilists
