Disabled thoughts

by ~Patiently Waiting~   Nov 4, 2005

Eyes of helplessness,
What his eyes hold,
He doesnt know whats happening,
But he has a heart of gold.

He goes to special schools,
With special things and special rules.
He may have a problem with his brain,
But he still feels the pain.

He needs a helper,
Because he cant look after himself,
He is nearly sixteen,
But he is like nobody else.

His second home is in the emergancy ward,
Where his parents cry and think of pulling the cord,
He sits in his chair because he cant walk,
And he makes little noises because he cant talk.

His arms are as weak as a new born baby,
He grew and grew but his minds still young,
He has problems with everything,
His heart, liver, brain and lungs.

When people look in his eyes,
They see innocence and sadness,
They think he is a big baby,
And of him they couldnt think any less.

But if only they knew the sadness he can feel,
And the annoyance of living on wheels.
Maybe they would be a little more kind,
Maybe they wouldnt judge him for having a disabled mind.

*this poem is so sad in my oppinion because it is true with some people and they are labeled as retards. I have a family friend who is blind, deaf, dumb (unable to speak), unable to walk, mentally disabled, as well as physically, and the parents and siblings are the nicest people in the world*
