Anxiety

by Peter Williams   Nov 5, 2005

Burning embers on the ground,
The beating of my heart makes no sound.
When did the day turn into night?
When did the darkness swallow the light?
My mind wanders,
My heart whimpers.
Shouting at the shadows,
Shouting at the world.
When did the hero have to die?
When did the truth turn into a lie?
The demon on my shoulder begins to grow,
The fire in my heart stops the blood flow.
The cig in my mouth burns out.
Breathing a breathe of smoke and ash,
At last I can get some rest.
When did heaven turn into hell?
When did this room turn into a cell?
I made a pact with the Devil,
And another with God.
For every-time my heart breaks,
Another would be repaired.
When did joy turn into a tear?
When did pleasure turn into fear?
When was my heart broken?
And why?
