Darkness of the valley

The darkness from the valley is rolling in,
it covers all, envelops every sin,
the hill tops are still alight,
they remind us of our past,
a time before the fight.

they struggle to keep off the black,
to stay in the light in goodnesses lack,
they stand above the evil,
above the darkness below,
but we all know its time for light to go.

for the darkness to win,
the evil reign to begin,
in to the void we will be sucked,
into our dark cave of living death,
more darkness enters with every breath.

we can see the light, high above,
see a time when we could still feel love,
but we cannot reach it,
we can jump all we want but it's far too high,
so to light and happiness, we'll say "good-bye"
