From Son To Father

Explain away your faithlessness,
The reasons you don't care.
Tell me why when life is hard,
I look but you're not there.

I've tried my best to please you,
But its all to no avail.
No matter what I've done,
You've pointed out where I did fail.

You make my life so hard,
Harder than it needs to be.
Killing me from the inside,
And not doing it softly.

Why must you torment me,
With your cruel and hurtful words?
Once a while you praise me,
But like it's giving breadcrumbs to the birds.

When my life is over,
My sorrow will not be done.
Why couldn't you, as my father,
Treat me like I was your son?
